Shoreham Airport

01/01/13 - The first day of the year saw blue skies, but the extremely wet weather leading up to the New Year meant that a number of airfields were closed due to soggy runways, with a number of planned New Year Fly-ins being cancelled. However Shoreham (now Brighton City) Airport has a hard runway, and although the outfield was sodden, both the regulars and a large number of visiting aircraft kept me busy for 5 hours!

26/01/13 - A return to Shoreham on a fairly bright but cold day, following the snowy scenes earlier in the week.

17/02/13 - Valentines Fly-in + 08/02/13, 17/08/13, 21/09/13

Popham Airfield

13/01/13 - Blue skies once again tempted me out and this time for the first trip to Popham Airfield just outside Basingstoke.

Freezing cold temperatures and soggy ground surfaces.

03/03/13 - Popped in after a Fly-in at Old Sarum : 07/04/13 - Popped in after a Fly-in at Old Sarum

Sywell

25/05/13 - American Classics Fly-in

Thorney Island

21/09/13 & 22/09/13 - Charity Fly-in

A rare opportunity to visit a live military base when the Barrack's Commanding Officer at Thorney Island allows private pilots to land on its usually closed runway for an annual charity fly-in.

260 aircraft were expected over the weekend but unfortunately the weather on both days presented low cloud to those coming from the North. This prevented a number of pilots from arriving and for some who arrived on Saturday from departing that night!. The event was hosted by the Popham ATC and marshallers.

Turweston

25/05/13 - popped in briefly after the Sywell American Classics Fly-in

08/09/13 - Late Fly-in, rearranged following the cancellation of the VAC Snowball Rally in March due to snow!
