DEMONSTRATION TEAM

FLYING STARS

The 'Flying Stars' (Letece Zvezde) were the Yugoslavian Air Force demonstration team.

The 'Flying Stars' name was officially awarded in 1985, a year after the Jastreb 'Hawk' team from the Yugoslav Air Force Academy based at Zemunik was re-established. The team initially flew 9 Soko J-21 Jastrebs. In 1990, the team changed to the Soko G-4 Super Galeb with an overall blue, red and white colour scheme with a large star under the fuselage. The team disbanded in 1991 due to the war with Slovenia. The team were re-established in 1996 with a similar paint scheme but with 6 white stars underneath. In 1997 all the aircraft were destroyed during the war in Yugoslavia. A civil Serbian display team known as the 'Stars' was formed in 2007 flying Soko G-2 Galebs with a near identical colour scheme, and comprised some ex 'Flying Star' pilots.
